000 stars were awarded but it is not known how many of these were awarded with a bar
representing the defence of the homeland and the blackout during wartime
and in the air against Japanese forces between 8 December 1941 and 2 September 1945
it closely matches the look and feel of the original issue
Military Medal EIIR RAF Long Service The last award of aThe first awards of this MM were made during the Korean War although often awards announced in the name of The Queen resulted in a recipient recieving the medal with the head of King George VI. This award was ceased in 1993 as part of the review of the honours syetm and replaced by the Military Cross. The last award being made for Northern Ireland in that year, although other awards were announced later in the London Gazette these were all backdated.
