Awarded for 30 days service between 16th October 1951 and 19th October 1954

The General Service Medal 1962 - 2007 is commonly known as the Campaign Service Medal 1962 as was awarded with a minimum of one campaign clasp (in the instance 'North Iraq & South Turkey') and it is believed that a maximum of six clasp have been awarded on one medal

Each medal is British made in the same traditional factories that produced the original wartime medals

A silver bar ornamented by an eagle may be issued to DFC holders performing a further act of such valour which would have merited award of the DFC

In the Merchant Navy the requirement was that the 28 days should have been served at sea
